Sires
We presently have 14 sires working in our registered and commercial herds. These carry a large array of bloodlines ranging from Glenlands, Christmas Creek, Fairhaven, Bryvonlea, Kapalee, and Glen Valley studs.
At Fernleigh we put particular selection pressure on bulls that have a bit of leg, and a good temperament above all else. We have a zero tolerance on bad tempers. We like to breed a Droughtmaster with height – with careful selection of bulls to keep that height in our genetics.
Foundation Sires
Fairhaven 03/177 and 03/108
Fathering the progeny at foot/in utero when the Fairhaven females were purchased, these two sires were responsible for setting the foundation to our future stud. The Fairhaven bloodlines have continued to put a stamp on our cattle.. and to us that is honesty. The Fairhaven bloodline demonstrates a fair dinkum Droughtmaster. They’re repeatable, they do the job as they are supposed to, and they carry great traits – sleek coats, long legs, big frame and docile natures.
Glenlands Ivan
The big frame bull that everyone needs in their herd. This bull is responsible for producing some of the biggest frame females in our herd. His poll genetics, dream-like nature and fertility were impeccable.

Glenlands None Better
Our super star bull that was purchased for $65 000 from the Glenlands Bull Sale in 2009, topping the sale with a three quarter share/full procession with Glenlands. None Better produced small calves but they grew with great punch. This bull was our temperament marker – his progeny have been absolutely outstanding in our herd and two of his female progeny are our stand out breeders – Fernleigh Amy and Fernleigh Audrey. Both being broken in and shown at various shows in Queensland.
Herd Performers

Christmas Creek Ace
Responsible for breeding some of our foundation breeders as well. One of the tallest bulls we have ever owned and you could do anything with him in the yards. Again, his calves were light weight but grew into beautiful beasts. His females are recognisable always – leg, leg and leg.

Bryvonlea Titan
A bull with presence and style… he knows he is a looker! Titan’s first progeny are currently hitting the ground. Titan’s calves are consistent: sleek – honey coloured coats, poll heads and strong along the top line.

Bryvonlea Tarzan
The 2019 injection of good temperament… a bull purchased for his temperament along with height and length. His poll genes and sleek coat are added bonuses. Tarzan’s calves also have a consistent stamp – curious, quiet and thick set.

Glenlands Ace of Spades
A stand out sire – the presence, the style, the quiet nature, the muscle, the bone, the length, the depth, the hindquarter – the whole kit and kaboodle. Ace of Spades’s calves are on the ground now and are performing beautifully already.. they’re small calves at birth and have all shown poll genetics thus far. We are extremely excited to watch this bull continue.

Glenlands Abercorn
The first purchase of Emily and Nathan into the Fernleigh Star stud (Fernleigh Star was registered in 2007). Abercorn was purchased due to his reliable genetic pool – sired by Glenlands Teleford, a sire that we have had in the Fernleigh stud himself and watched him perform incredibly in the longstanding drought. Teleford held his ground, maintained good condition and continued to get cows in calf. Having the Teleford background, we were keen to keep this in the herd and Abercorn has done the same as his father – stayed in good condition, performed, remained highly mobile in the paddock and remained easy to handle.

Glenlands Trademark
An all time favourite, steal of the sale we say. Purchased for $22 000 at the 2015 Glenlands Bull Sale and has paid himself off with ease. This bull’s fertility is outstanding. Trademark’s performance in the drought was incredible and the way he continued to work was amazing. A sleek coated, leggy, long bull who gets everything in calf… every time.

Rondel Wolverine
The first Rondel purchase into the Fernleigh and Fernleigh Star studs, going into the Fernleigh Star stud predominantly. We are very excited about this young bull. A surprise purchase for us at the Bullzeye Droughtmaster Sale in 2020 for $22 000. Wolverine has a strong topline, incredible depth and hindquarter, a beautiful quiet nature and incredible softness.

Fernleigh Grande
A stand out from the minute he hit the ground, he had sire written all over him. An AI program went ahead in 2020 to Grande and we are waiting the drop this year in 2021. This is one bull we are extremely proud of breeding and have enjoyed watching him go ahead and do great things in other studs. We have purchased female progeny by him back into the herd and thoroughly enjoying how they are developing.
